Looking at 2022 Events: or - How To Keep Airline Status During a Pandemic

Posted by Carolyn Tusinski on 2021-12-01

One of the strangest scenarios of the pandemic shutdown was staying home. Really staying home.

As an exhibit manager, I manage logistics for tradeshows. I also staff the shows – enticing attendees to tour our booth and experiences our products. I talk to a lot of people. I really like to talk, so it works for me. Phone and video aren’t the same as in person conversations – as we’ve learned.

We participated in a few virtual events. Finally, in August, we had a live event in the US – HIMSS21 in Las Vegas. I chronicled the experience here. While Las Vegas in August wouldn’t usually be my first choice for a trip, I really couldn’t complain.

Looking forward to 2022 – we have a full calendar. Right after New Year’s – back to Vegas for CES22. It will be subdued in comparison to past years – many quarantine requirements in several countries will reduce the usual ridiculous number of attendees. Maybe the trip down Las Vegas Boulevard to the convention center – about 1 mile – will be less than 45 minutes?

We will exhibit at Touch Taiwan 2022 in April. We did exhibit this past April at TouchTaiwan – we were all riding high on the newly released vaccines. Attendance was good, all things considered.

After two virtual events, Display Week by the Society of Information Display will be live in San Jose in May. I can just smell the air miles.
