2024 was a big year for releases of ePaper products, and we’ve had some exciting launches across brands, devices, and capabilities. Let’s recap some of the new consumer ePaper products from this year!

There are many, many eReaders and eNotes featuring E Ink in the market – this blog will only cover a few – drop us a comment if you have a favorite that we’ve missed!

Starting off we have Kobo, who released their first ever color eReaders this year. The Kobo Libra Colour and the Kobo Clara Colour feature an E Ink Kaleido 3 display. It’s the same reading experience users know and love, but now they can view color versions of their book covers and even color-code their highlights and annotations.

Moving over to BOOX, who had a big year for new releases. Earlier this year was the Go series, with the Go 10.3 black and white tablet, and the Go Color 7, if you’re looking for a more compact and color device. They later also released the Go 6, and pocket-sized black and white eReader.

In October was another big announcement. The Palma 2, an eReader the size of a phone. This new version has some nice upgrades from the previous, like a fingerprint scanner and an upgraded CPU. This announcement also included two eNotes, a color one: the Note Air4 C and a black and white: the Note Air Max. Both have Android OS, so the capabilities are endless.

The reMarkable Paper Pro was released in September, being their first color eNote. This device uses an E Ink Gallery 3 display. reMarkable’s main focus is to help users maintain focus and minimize distractions. The Paper Pro offers a seamless, distraction-free environment. Now, with the addition of color, users can enjoy an even richer and more engaging experience, whether they are annotating documents, creating colorful sketches, or simply reading in a more visually appealing format.

The Supernote A5 X2 Manta is the latest release this year. This model is the thinnest one yet, at only 3.6mm at its thinnest edges and 6mm where the USB-C port and power button are. This black and white eNote has a 10.7” E Ink display. The back of the device is removable so that you can repair the device and even expand the storage. The Supernote Manta was made with sustainability in mind, as the battery is replaceable, and the pen has a ceramic “NeverReplace” nib.

2024 has been a great year of releases of new ePaper products. As we look ahead, it's exciting to imagine what next year will bring.
