What my ePaper Device is Doing this Summer

Posted by Carolyn Tusinski on 2023-06-22

Welcome to Summer 2023! As the song goes, the living is easy!

We’re looking forward to downtime, relaxing on a beach, kayaking, whale watches, fishing – all that stuff that’s fun to do outdoors. Know what else is fun? Reading outside!

As we all know, ePaper is ideal for reading in bright sunlight. The display is reflective, unlike LCD & LED displays. My car’s backup camera is LCD – useless in bright sun. Here’s a tip – check out the waterproof eReaders! Yes, they exist!

Kindles:

The heavy hitter in the eReader game is Amazon Kindle. Two choices:

Kindle Oasis

7” 300 ppi display, long battery life, 8 or 32G storage available, adjustable front light, switch to audiobooks with Bluetooth headset (not included).

Kindle Paperwhite

6.8” 300 ppi display, long battery life, 8 or 32G storage available, adjustable front light, switch to audiobooks with Bluetooth headset (not included).

eNote

Kindle recently introduced an eNote – the Kindle Scribe. Merging the eReader and eNote works very well in this device.

10.3”, 300 ppi, auto adjusting front light, adjustable front light. The Scribe is often compared to the reMarkable. Check out this review by Pocket-Lint.

reMarkable 2

10.3”, 300 ppi, 8 G storage, robust cloud platform – Connect. Optional keyboard available – Type Folio.

Bigme InkNote Color

For the best of all worlds – the Bigme InkNote Color is an eNote and eReader – and has a Kaleido 3 color ePaper display. 10.3”, 300 ppi, 64 G storage (expandable to 1T), front and rear cameras, and microphone.

Ooh! I nearly forgot – all of these devices function perfectly indoors, as well!
