On April 6, E Ink introduced our newest color platform, E Ink Spectra™ 3100. This new four-particle electronic ink is a major step forward in the technology, and incorporates retailer’s requests for additional color functionality, by utilizing black, white, red and yellow particles to offer vibrant color rich content.
Electronic shelf labels (ESLs) give retailers the ability to update pricing information remotely, without needing to waste paper printing physical tags or use precious employee time changing them manually. With this reduced overhead needed to keep pricing information up-to-date, retailers can offer more dynamic pricing, regularly updating prices as the market demands. They can also reduce or even eliminate human error, respond to customer traffic patterns in real-time, reduce waste, and display promotions, all in one device. The benefits of ESLs are vast and varied, and the technology is quickly changing retail even more so since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Spectra 3100 has an improved update time, and an expanded temperature range for red and yellow states, to satisfy retailers’ needs to operate ESL tags in various environments within their stores. In addition, Spectra 3100 will be offered in panels with an updated all-in-one driver IC that supports premium ESLs with higher resolution across various sizes.
