E Ink and Delvaux Unveil the Helios Collection at Paris Fashion Week

Posted by Brandon LaBelle on 2024-10-03

E Ink, the pioneer in ePaper technology, has teamed up with the luxury leather goods brand Delvaux to create a groundbreaking handbag collection. The Helios Collection, showcased at Paris Fashion Week, features four unique designs that blend traditional leather craftsmanship with cutting-edge E Ink Prism™ 3 technology.

A Fusion of Tradition and Innovation

The Helios Collection is inspired by E Ink’s color-changing Prism film, known for its programmable, reflective, and low power consumption properties. This collaboration began over two years ago, with both companies striving to push the boundaries of technology and craftsmanship. The result is a series of handbags that offer a personalized and dynamic experience, merging material innovation with leather mastery.

Jean-Marc Loubier, CEO of Delvaux, expressed his excitement about the project. “Our Helios project unifies extreme tradition with extreme innovation. It’s the fruit of an encounter and truly collaborative work which started more than two years ago between E Ink’s and Delvaux’s teams. Our project demonstrates the drive to mix this extraordinary tech with our leather mastery and create outstanding bags for real, daily use.”

The Vision Behind the Collaboration

Tim O’Malley, Associate Vice President of E Ink’s US Business Unit, highlighted the synergy between the two companies. “E Ink has explored how to integrate our films into textiles for a number of years. In Delvaux, we found a partner that had the vision to imagine new possibilities in how the two materials could work together harmoniously. The resulting designs highlight how innovative materials like E Ink Prism can be seamlessly woven into a traditional material, honoring both history and the future.”

Bringing the Collection to Market

The Helios Collection includes the models le Caprice and le Pin, marking the first time E Ink’s technology has been implemented in a luxury maison. Both companies are working together to bring these innovative designs to market, offering consumers a blend of high-tech functionality and timeless elegance.
