At the 2025 Touch Taiwan Smart Display Exhibition, a revolutionary, ultra-low power consumption, battery-powered smart retail solution was launched. This smart retail solution uses Himax’s WiseEye™ ultra-low-power AI smart sensing solution and is equipped with industry-leading E Ink Spectra 6™ electronic paper display signage (EPD).
This solution uses Himax’s WiseEye to deploy context-aware artificial intelligence for human body detection and consumer insight detection. It not only significantly extends the battery life of the ePaper display but also enables real-time personalized marketing and cloud-based consumer information analysis to timely decide right strategies to increase sales revenue.

Himax's WiseEye ultra-low-power AI smart sensing technology combines proprietary ultra-low-power AI processor, always-on CMOS image sensor and CNN-based AI algorithm to provide the most advanced, ultra-low power consumption, always-on detection of device-side situational awareness artificial intelligence. This technology has been widely used in consumer electronics and many AIoT-related applications.
In today's era when information security is of paramount importance, WiseEye AI performs artificial intelligence inference calculations directly on WiseEye AI chip, while ensuring that the original image data is not transmitted externally. After the AI calculation, only metadata of approximately a few bits in size is transmitted to the cloud store management system for processing. This not only greatly reduces transmission delays and power consumption but also provides users with a very high degree of privacy protection.

EDP TCON & Driver
Himax EPD Driver is a bistable display driving IC that combines the lightness and readability of traditional paper with high contrast, wide viewing angles, reflectivity, and sunlight readability. Its low power consumption allows images to remain on the display even after power is off. This IC is widely used in applications such as advertising billboards, smart luggage, notebooks, and digital notice boards.
Himax, in collaboration with E Ink, developed the T2000 electronic paper timing control chip, which features low latency, high resolution, and high refresh rates. It also includes smart power management to reduce energy consumption, enhancing eMonitor performance and user experience.
The T2000 supports USB 3.0 for higher bandwidth, enabling smoother writing and display. By integrating image and command transmission through a single interface, it reduces cable requirements, making it easier to connect ePaper displays to various devices. It also includes hardware point-drawing architecture for eNotes, allowing users to draw smoothly and adjust colors and strokes precisely. The T2000 shortens development time and accelerates product adoption, expanding its applications in smart offices, financial boards, education, and smart homes.

When paired with E Ink Spectra 6, the T2000 adds cyan, light green, and orange to the original 6-color display, improving color detail and enhancing the overall viewing experience by reducing pixelation and providing smoother gradients.
